A Day In: Ann Arbor, MI

Hi Guys! Today I really just wanted to have a pretty laid back post today. I haven’t posted in 6 whole days on my YouTube and it’s bugging me a little bit 😦 I tried to film a couple of ideas and they just failed miserably due to lighting, angles and uploading issues. I really keep telling myself that I enjoy blogging as well as making videos so I just have to keep trying!  Other than that, I had a really fun weekend with Andy! We were able to spend time together just having lunch in Ann Arbor and I figured I’d share where we ate at.

So, we had lunch at a pretty low-key BBQ place right at the corner of Madison and Main St called Westside BBQ. Although I’m not a huge meat eater, I really love some good BBQ so we had to check this place out because of the reviews. We often use Yelp to find most of our food places! It’s a pretty small place, with only 1 big family table to share with strangers as well as a couple of picnic tables outside. It was a beautiful, breezy day so, we decided the picnic tables it is.

Andy got the brisket sandwich, and of course I had to get the baby-back ribs, yum. Unfortunately, coming from a mac and cheese loving gal, this wasn’t the best mac and cheese but that’s okay. I’d def recommend trying if you are in A2 for the day~

fullsizeoutput_5aa.jpeg      After Andy and I had lunch we casually walked around Downtown Ann Arbor just to see what was poppin’. I noticed they opened “DROUGHT” (cold-pressed juices) and we decided to stop there. The lady working here was soo sweet and I ended up getting a juice. I got a watermelony/cucumber flavor that had other jam packed nutrients in it. It was definitely not the worst drink I’ve ever had but.. it is an acquired taste I’ll leave it at that.

We hung out for a bit downtown and on our way out we got Ice cream at the Washtenaw Dairy! I got the yummy blueberry waffle cone ice cream and Andy got moosetracks.

Why Knowing Your Self-worth is Important

I’ve just really been thinking a lot lately, just with everything I’m going through in life. I’ve been having to do a lot of self-reflection and try to understand where life has taken me. I want someday more than anything, to make an impact on lives and I realize that no matter how I intend to do so, I have to be authentic. Being authentic and true to yourself is the most valuable thing in life to me, and I believe that so is knowing your worth.

There are days I really struggle wondering why ” I don’t fit in this scenario” or “I don’t get a long with this person” or “I don’t feel right” doing certain things in life but instead of feeling bad about these things, I’ve realized that I feel these emotions because I know what I’m worth. I’m worth more than working a 9-5 every day for the rest of eternity. I’m worth more than being in friendships or relationships that make me feel low.  I’m worth more than feeling shitty about my body because someone else talks negatively of theirs or other women.  Knowing your worth in life brings you happiness, success, and what you want out of life.

This is post is a shoutout to not just myself for knowing my worth, but for others who don’t. You ARE good enough, and you should believe in yourself. If you’re passionate about something, do NOT let others bring you down. If you feel a certain way, you’re feeling that for a reason. If you think you’re meant to make an impact in this world, then do what your heart tells you. Don’t be a follower, don’t listen to what others think, only do so to get a better understanding of yourself.

So.. get out of that toxic relationship or friendship.  Quit that job that makes you miserable. Stop looking in the mirror and picking apart your body because of what _____ said at work today about other women.  Stop setting low standards for yourself and realize you are worth more. Trust your own feelings, follow your heart, and strive to be a better version of yourself every day.  As hard as life can be to find balance, don’t let it stop you from doing what you love and and being the truest “you”.

Where I’ve been

Hi everyone! Still trying my hardest to post more, because I love blogging so much and love sharing things with you all.  I’ve been pretty busy with work, and recently came home from a weekend vacation. Last weekend,  I was in Atlanta, MI where my family cabin is. It was a 3 day weekend with my family  and it was a great getaway from reality.

My family cabin

Atlanta, MI

We headed over to Rogers city, which was about a 45 min drive from our cabin. Rogers city is a really small city, but adorable and it was actually my first time visiting here. We walked along shore of Lake huron and it was super chilly but also beautiful.

On the way back to our Cabin, we stopped at Ocqueoc Falls.  We walked through the trails and it was really pretty & magical.

Thanks for reading! Comment where you go in Northern Michigan during the summer or where your family cabins and cottages are.

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog, Thank you to those reading and hello! to my new followers. My plan is to be posting at least once a week. My current ideas for my next blog post: “What’s in my purse?”, “Spring Beauty Haul ” and “Apartment hunting and tour”!  Stay tuned and expect more posts.

Lunch Date in Dearborn

Tuesdays. My favorite day of the week. My day off to do absolutely nothing or do whatever I please. Days off are always the best to run errands, be lazy af or just put a cute outfit on and get lunch with a friend, which I always end up doing. If you live in the Metro Detroit area like me,  there are always tons of foodie places to hit up, especially on a nice warm day.

We decided to try Brome burger. First time for my friend, second time for me. Brome Burger is located right on Michigan Ave between Monroe and Mason st in Dearborn, Michigan. I really love the look of this place from the second you walk in. Cute, modern & fresh style with a menu to choose from right when you walk through the door. I like this option because you know how awkward it can be staring at a food menu for 30 mins still not knowing what you want.

My friend and I split a side of the chili cheese tots which where SO delicious. She got the one-eyed brome burger, and I got the black angus beef original burger with fries.  I like that everything at Brome is 100% organic beef, non GMO and grass-fed. I can’t say honestly everything I eat has those qualities, but I can definitely appreciate the freshness of ingredients!

Of course, I decided to be extra and boujie and get bottled Hawaiian volcanic water and also finally got to try colored macaroons! I’ve been dying to try these and the blueberry flavor was my absolute favorite.

I apologize for the different lighting of these photos below, but I also wanted to share my ootd! I’m wearing a ribbed olive green top from Forever 21 +, mid-rise linen pants in the color amalgam from Old Navy, and wide strap black sandals from Payless shoesource.

Thanks again for reading. Hello to any new followers! please like, share and comment if you have any favorite foodie spots to eat in Dearborn, Detroit or surrounding areas. ♡
